The easiest way to distinguish leather from other items is to turn the sewn-off edge of the desired material and pay attention to what is behind it.
Among leather goods, foams are the most abundant and, incidentally, are offered instead of leather more than other goods. If you see traces of lace-shaped threads on the back of the material, do not doubt that it is artificial. Natural leather can be easily identified by villi that are not detached from the whole material and are difficult to peel off, just like when you split a ball of wool or cotton into two pieces and the fibers one by one come together.
Check the seams and seams of shoes or coats or any other leather items you have.
You can usually find a cut, albeit small, edge carefully enough to see or touch the back of the leather. If the back of the leather had a layer of cotton or a cotton thread was attached, it is artificial, but if the material behind the leather was leathery, fluffy and soft, it means that the leather is natural.
