Plasma laser technology in the leather industry

Laser plasma technology is a combination of plasma and laser and polishes the surface of the leather by non-toxic gases.

PlDue to prominent leather features, this material is used in the production of many goods including clothing, shoe, leather goods, furniture, shipbuilding, aircraft manufacturing and automotive appliances, and, depending on the nature and characteristics of the goods and the items to be consumed, different types of leather are demanded by various industries.

Altogether, in traditional tanning, the consumption of water and energy in this industry is high due to the process of preparation of raw leather.
There are also a lot of chemicals used in tannery and leather good production, which should not be used in accordance with EU chemicals legislation.

However, leather durability is an important factor in the industry

Of course, the health of customers is still a priority for the famous brands of leather and retailers.

On the other hand, customers’ sensitivity to the harmless nature of the products they buy has increased, and the manufacturers have been concerned with whether the materials used in leather tanning are harmful to their customers.

Environmental activists also put leather industry manufacturers in a position to not use hazardous materials that harm the environment, and all these factors have come into coordination for the industry to find a suitable solution for the replacement of hazardous chemicals in order not to endanger the customers’ health and damage the environment.

Accordingly, Inescop is researching and working on replacing technology that tans leather through the less harmful substances known as Plasma Laser Technology (MLSE)

Laser plasma technology is a combination of plasma and laser and polishes the surface of the leather by non-toxic gases.

Plasma laser technology also has dry processes that do not consume water and minimize environmental impacts, because it reduces greenhouse gases and reduce overall water and energy consumption.

Research shows that leather-tanned by MLSE method, has a smoother, more uniform surface than the traditional one, and their waterproofing properties are higher.
